First week of Julyyy

Back from 8 more days spent in Oklahoma (the Washita national battlefield and again doing some extra plots in Chickasaw national recreation area).

saw more beautiful sunrises in washita.. i kinda love this windfarm!

I hate to self medicate but i got chigger bites a few weeks ago and they are so awful i got a topical thing that is 5% benzocaine to help relieve all the ache and itch... soo annoying!

also i may or may have not taken a little souvenir from the washita battlefield....
it's okay because i work for the national parks service...... yup ;)
I also took some bones from a trail we were hiking to get to plots in chickasaw national rec area.

i might be losing my mind

it's amazing how restless i've been. the transition from working 10 hour days to not working at all leaves me with my thoughts and my hormones and right now my brain is going crazy.

i saw the woody allen film 'manhattan' today and the main character's narcissism is one of the main ideas that i pulled from it. at 42 his search for a relationship leads him back to a 17 year old girl whom worshiped him as this  'intellectual'. it really got me thinking about what men and women value in potential partners, lovers, and in marriage. i can't help but start to wonder if the act of wanting to love and to be loved is inherently selfish.

maybe i missed the point of the film. also i can't help but wonder if there is any coincidence that woody allen ended up leaving his wife for his adopted daughter later in life (or maybe it had already happened at the time of directing this movie).

i've found odd ways to bide my time so that i can leave my room. i've been writing a bunch of letters.. and subsequently used up the last of my latin popstar postage stamps lmao.

I've also played late-night croquet with tyler. the other interns are in Sante Fe New Mexico camping.

annnnd i dyed my hair pink. i think i might have to bleach a bit more though my roots are getting longgg.

chickasaw national recreation area in Sulfur, Oklahomaaa

Six hours in the car with Tyler at the wheel... he loves to sing Johnny Cash songs
Taking "flattering" pictures is highly over-rated...

We passed by this house with a yard full of random stuff that was "for sale". i really wish i had a wooden bat, i would have paid money to have a go at some of the stuff that was there!

In the field doin fireplots!

Jess and I shared a hotel room at a hotel and casino... lmao! look at my hilarious sandal- tan.
Finally throwing out those boots... so ends the saga of the 2 dollar leather boots.
Waking up at 5 to start fieldwork at 6... saw some nice sunrises

Bruce is our supervisor. He is really fucking cool and has worked in fire mgmt all over the U.S (in zion and bryce canyon as well!). i told him i was going to take a few candid shots of us doing work for my blog thinking he would think i am crazy but he took pictures of us as well because he keeps a daily email list and sends his friends pictures everyday as well! he said "look at my slave labor!" as he took my picture... lol.

Bruce brews his own beer. He usually likes dark stuff but made a light ale for us to enjoy! He calles it hoodoo brew after the hoodoo rock formations at Bryce Canyon

he also brewed some thai sun tea

work work work! we earned ourselves some elk burgers that Bruce had caught earlier in the year.
went for a walk and i found an apricot tree!

so cute!
